The Toy & Doll Museum

Glendale Toy Museum, ©2003 Terry Wilding.
Holmisdale House, Glendale.
An award-winning museum set up in 1985 and situated on the Glendale visitor route. Set in the heart of MacLeod country on the Isle of Skye, just two miles from the cottage.
The museum contains a fascinating collection of toys, games and dolls from the 1960s, 70s and 80s.
Sadly, Holmisdale House was very badly damaged by fire in 2002 but has since been re-built and restored to its magnificent former glory. It re-opened to the public at Easter 2004.
On your arrival, proprietor Terry Wilding provides a very entertaining tour of the museum and demonstrates some of the more unusual toys. Then you are, quite literally, free to play with the toys yourselves. Great fun this for young and old alike!
The beauty of the collection is that it specialises in the kind of 'ordinary' toys that we all forget that we played with as kids. Remember games like 'Coppit', 'Slam It', 'Escalado'; Evil Knievel and Six Million Dollar Man action figures? You'll find them all and more at the Toy Museum.
